Feeling stuck or in a rut

How do I get out of a rut?

A rut isn't usually about doing the wrong things - it's about doing the same things, in the same order, for long enough that they stop registering. Your brain gets efficient at routine, which is useful for getting through a busy week, but it also means less is landing as new, interesting or worth remembering.

The fastest way out isn't a big life overhaul - a new job, a house move, a total schedule rebuild - those take months to plan and often just recreate a new routine on the other side. What actually breaks a rut is variation: small deviations from the pattern that give your brain something to actually notice.

Realistic ways in: change one habitual route or timing (walk a different way, eat lunch somewhere new), say yes to one thing you'd normally skip, put one "someday" idea on the calendar for this week instead of leaving it vague, or do one ordinary thing with slightly more attention than usual.
